ShowMyFunds

Privacy policy

Effective 23 October 2026 · Applies to the ShowMyFunds app for Android and to showmyfunds.com

Short version: your financial data is stored and processed on your own device. We do not run a user database, we do not sell or share your data, and the app has no advertising or tracking. Some optional features move data through other services — each is listed below with exactly what passes and why.

Who we are

ShowMyFunds ("we") is an independent app, published on Google Play under the developer account "Write Wider". Contact: [email protected].

What the app does with your data

DataWhere it goesWhy
Bank and card transactions, balances, account namesStored only on your device, in the app's private storageTo show balances, forecasts, alerts and reports
Your bank username, password and one-time codesTyped by you on the bank's or card company's own web page, shown inside the app. The app does not read, store or send themSo you can sign in to your own accounts
Things you enter (cash, manual items, categories, settings)Stored only on your deviceYour own records

The app reads the account information that your bank's website displays after you sign in, and saves it on your device. Nothing is sent to us.

Optional features that use other services

Backup and sync with Google Drive. If you turn this on, you sign in with Google and the app asks for two limited Drive permissions: drive.appdata (a hidden folder only this app can see) and drive.file (only files this app creates — used for a shared household folder). The app cannot see your other Drive files. Before upload, every file is encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM, using a key derived from a password you choose (PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256). We do not have that password; without it the files cannot be read — by us, or by Google.

ShowMyFunds' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from Google is used only to store and retrieve your own encrypted backup, sync and household files; it is not used for advertising, not sold, and not read by people.

Banks abroad (open banking). In some countries you can connect a bank through a licensed open-banking provider (currently Enable Banking, for Europe and the UK). You approve access on your bank's own page. The account data then travels from the provider, through a small relay server we operate on Cloudflare, to your device. The relay exists only to hold our provider key; it does not store, log or cache your data. The access token is kept in your phone's secure keystore. The provider processes your data under its own privacy policy. You can disconnect at any time in the app, which revokes access at the bank.

Shared household. If you join a household, you choose per account what to share (nothing, balance and forecast, or everything). Shared data is encrypted with the household password and exchanged through the members' Google Drive. Leaving the household removes data others shared with you from your device.

"Ask" — the AI assistant (paid, optional). When you ask a question, the app sends the question and a short summary that its own engine computed (account names, balances, forecast ranges, spending by category, upcoming charges, alerts) through our relay to an AI provider, which writes the answer. No account numbers, passwords or full transaction history are sent. The relay does not store the question, the summary or the answer. The provider processes them only to answer and under its API terms, which do not allow training on this data. Reminders you ask for are saved on your device. If you never use "Ask", nothing is sent.

Subscription. Payments are handled entirely by Google Play. The app receives only whether your subscription is active; it never sees your card or payment details.

Public reference data. The app downloads currency exchange rates from the European Central Bank and may download public interest-rate statistics from central banks. These are plain downloads; no information about you is sent.

What we do not do

Notifications

Alerts are calculated and shown on your device. No notification service of ours receives your data.

Keeping and deleting your data

Everything on the device is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data. To delete backups, remove the files from Google Drive (for the hidden app folder: Drive → Settings → Manage apps → ShowMyFunds → Delete hidden app data). Open-banking connections can be revoked in the app or at your bank. Because we hold no copy, there is nothing for us to delete — but write to us if you have any question.

Security

Data on the device stays in the app's private storage, protected by Android. Secrets (such as open-banking tokens and the backup password, if you allow automatic backup) are kept in the Android Keystore. Backups and household files are encrypted end to end.

Children

ShowMyFunds is meant for adults managing their own money and is not directed at children under 18.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the Israeli Privacy Protection Law) you have rights to access, correct and delete personal data. Since your data is in your own hands, you can exercise most of them directly in the app; for anything else, contact us.

Changes

If a new feature changes how data is handled, this page will be updated before that feature is released, and the date above will change.
